Atlantic Region Programs
Eastern Canada and New England are what we call the Atlantic Region. Also known as our “home region,” it is where QLF began its work in 1961. A quality shared by all of our programs over the decades is a commitment to biodiversity conservation that is community-based. Hallmarks of our work are the fostering of cross-cultural understanding and training future environmental leaders.

QLF is a leading partner in the Staying Connected Initiative (SCI), a cutting-edge, transboundary, public-private collaboration dedicated to conserving and restoring an ecologically well-connected landscape for fish, wildlife, and people in the Northern Appalachian-Acadian region and adjoining areas of northeastern North America.

QLF continues to provide quality hands-on instruction and training in conservation biology to youth residing on the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland and the southern Labrador coast. The goal is to foster a generation of citizens equipped to address the priority environmental challenges facing their communities.

The Quebec-Labrador Foundation fosters leadership through conservation internships to advance community-based conservation and the stewardship of natural resources and cultural heritage. Conservation leadership is among QLF’s highest priorities and has historically been a hallmark of our programs.

QLF is a founding partner in the National Park Service Stewardship Institute. The Institute helps NPS leaders move the organization in new directions through collaboration and engagement, leadership for change, and research and evaluation. It is based at the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park in Woodstock, Vermont.
