Established in 1978 to address the rapid decline in seabird populations, QLF champions an internationally recognized, community-based approach to monitoring and protecting seabirds and sea ducks along the Northern Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Québec North Shore, Southern Labrador, and Newfoundland’s Northern Peninsula.
Seasonal observations and data collection are primarily conducted by interns, working alongside local naturalists in communities where nesting sites have been designated as Important Bird Areas (IBAs), part of a global network dedicated to safeguarding critical of bird and biodiversity habitats.
